A 3-day training course on Imposters & Documents (ID) was held at the Central Training Centre (CTC) for Border Management located at the Rayak Air Base in the Bekaa, in cooperation with the Netherlands-funded component of the Enhanced Capability for Integrated Border Management in Lebanon (IBM Lebanon) project, funded by the European Union (EU).

3 trainers from the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) who have been trained by the Netherlands-funded component delivered the entire course from 10 to 13 September 2018, to 22 participants from the LAF’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Land Border Regiments (LBRs), and the Directorate of Geographic Affairs. Training sessions combined theoretical and practical knowledge on imposters, document examination, substrates, printing techniques, personalization and security features.

While the main focus of the Netherlands-funded component was on the LAF, other Lebanese border agencies most notably the Internal Security Forces (ISF) and the Directorate General of General Security (GS) have also benefited from training activities. This has resulted in the establishment of a pool of trainers who have already assumed ownership over training design and delivery, as was the case with this training course.

During 2018, training activities focused on the consolidation of the LAF Military Policy (MP) capacities - but without excluding other beneficiary agencies - in the fields of Modern Border Management, Institutional Development, Document Security, Investigations and Gender issues.
